Position Description
The Financial Operations Instructional Designer (ID) will be responsible for designing and creating instructional materials that resolve supplier inquiries and maintain company policy. As an ID you will be responsible for developing instructional material, coordinating educational content, and validating current content. The candidate should have experience in designing full training programs with emphasis on process documentation.
This role will report to the Sr. Manager of Financial Operations and will work with all lines of business within the Financial Operations department in creating learning solutions. The candidate will work as part of a learning team supporting Expedia’s Financial Operations Department, identifying and promoting industry best practices (ADDIE).
Job Functions and Expectations:
* A self-starter with experience in designing material to be delivered to various internal partners
* Excellent instructional design capabilities for both instructor-led and web-based training
* Experience in adult learning and course/curriculum design
* Ability to build and manage multiple partnerships and relationships
* Experience in analyzing the results from discovery sessions and need analysis to identify the root causes of the performance opportunities
* Ensure overall integrity of the design
* Demonstrated writing proficiency
* Ability to learn multiple systems and processes quickly
* Conduct training needs analysis to determine training objectives, instructional strategies, project scope
* Perform task and content analysis with subject experts to obtain specific information to be included in curriculum
* Must have strong organization and time management skills
* Exceptional verbal and written communications skills are needed in order to
communicate with clients and students, as well as internal and external organizations
* Must have some facilitation skills, ability to present curriculum and lead group discussions in a professional environment
* Finely-honed relationship-building skills are a must for building rapport with coordinators, team members, and internal stakeholders
* Be able to demonstrate good judgment and proactive problem solving methods and be able to constructively handle unexpected problems. Adapt well and quickly to change.
* Both the ability to meet deadlines and schedule flexibility are crucial
* Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Internet Explorer, Share Point, and other graphics software
* Must have experience creating storyboards for e-Learning
* Strong experience with travel systems, travel industry, accounts payable and accounts receivable familiarity
* Knowledge of eLearning software such as Flash, Captivate, Dreamweaver, Live Meeting, synchronous tools, Photoshop preferred
* Some travel may be required
Minimum Requirements:
* Education: Bachelor’s degree preferred, or equivalent work experience
* 3-5 years experience designing and/or delivering computer-based/web-based and instructor-led materials for Contact Center and/or Sales and Customer Service audiences
* Excellent interpersonal skills, especially written and oral communication skills
* Demonstrated ability to apply principles of adult learning, and various instructional design theories
