The University of Nevada, Reno is recruiting for a NVGrow Project Manager in The Nevada Small Business Development Center. This position is located in Las Vegas, NV. The NVGrow Project Manager reports directly to the Deputy Director of the Nevada Small Business Development Center in Reno, Nevada. This position requires skilled business advising and project management to provide oversight of the NVGrow Legislative initiative and counsel Nevada SBDC clients.
This position provides business assistance for potential and existing NVGrow clients, entrepreneurs, and business owners. This position will assist clients while managing the outcomes of the NVGrow initiative. Essential job functions include:
• Develop and implement strategies for recruitment and tracking of NVGrow clients • Business advising for Nevada SBDC clients • Planning and delivering outcomes for the NVGrow Project specified in the initiative • Supervise the activities of NVGrow clients, including market research, business plan development, financial analysis, geographical data, and other related NVGrow outcomes. Produce reports as specified by the initiative to show growth and track outcomes. Make referrals to other SBDC staff, as necessary, to support the initiative. • Track the sales, business starts, jobs created/retained and capital formation of clients in the Neoserra client tracking system. • Perform liaison duties representing the Nevada SBDC in collaboration with community partners including chambers of commerce and government organizations, specifically, the College of Southern
The major responsibilities of the position include:
• Provide short and long-term one-to-one counseling to Nevada SBDC and NVGrow clients, entrepreneurs, and businesses for a number of diverse business settings. • Typical services provided include help with business start-up and growth, legal formation, obtaining financing, writing a business plan, marketing, researching, recordkeeping, understanding cash flow, buying and selling a business, improving customer service, setting up websites, technology development, importing/exporting, and social media training. Nevada SBDC counselors mentor and assist businesses long-term, as well as facilitate mutually beneficial relationships for businesses, e.g. connecting buyers with suppliers and matching businesses with complementing services. SBDC counselors also advocate, challenge, and help with planning and operational decisions, so small businesses have a support team. • Specialty areas include geographical data and related NVGrow initiative data requirements. • Individual counselor outcomes as specified annually by the State Director must be met. • Develop new opportunities to assist small businesses through the region, must be flexible to deal with all types of business/business development plans, economic data analysis and information technology assistance.
• Responsible for specific client outcomes as designated annually by the SBA and NVGrow initiative. These outcomes are part of statewide mandate of business starts, long-term clients, and economic impact, along with specific outcomes as mentioned for the NVGrow initiative. Liaison duties representing the Nevada SBDC in collaboration with community partners including various chambers of commerce, government organizations, and the College of Southern Nevada. • Support Nevada SBDC implementation of the NVGrow program to enhance delivery of the project and further economic diversification/development of the project. • Expand financial opportunities for the Nevada SBDC by continuing to strengthen relationships with community representatives, alternative funding sources, and lending institutions in this service community.
Training: • Work closely with the State Training Director to develop and teach training programs to meet the needs of the NVGrow and Nevada SBDC clients in various business community

Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited institution and 2 years of relevant work experience or Master’s Degree from an accredited institution and 1 year of relevant work experience.
